In this post, I will share on information about water change and water top-off to take care of evaporation of my setup to maintain the water parameters. 1. Water top-off due to evaporation a. I am using Auto Top-Off (ATO) system to ensure that the correct volume of water due to evaporation is being Top-Up timely / regularly. b. An ATO comes with sensor, pump, pipping and water reservoir to ensure constant / regular water replenish due to evaporation. ATO really making life much easier for the hobby 🙂 c. I am using Distilled water in the water reservoir to Top-Up to the Shrimp tank. 2. Water Change a. I perform weekly about 10% water change b. I do take note on how much time it takes for a 10% water discharge from the Shrimp tank and how much time it takes for a 10% water to drip into the Shrimp tank. This is to ensure I do not discharge too much of water and also no water overflow when dripping water into the Shrimp tank. c. I make sure that the correct TDS for the replacement water matches the water in the Shrimp tank. d. By dripping the replacement water into the Shrimp tank, will avoid any shock to the Shrimps and minimise / reduce the fluctuation of water parameters in the Shrimp tank. I have done and completed by 1st water change for my Shrimp tank and happy to see that all the 1st batch of Shrimps (5 pcs) are doing well !
